Mania Domnului impotriva lui Israel

   13 "Cand Efraim vorbea, raspandea groaza!
       El era inaltat in Israel,
           dar a pacatuit cu Baal^[a] si a murit.
   ^2 Acum ei pacatuiesc intruna,
       isi fac chipuri din argintul lor,
   idoli nascociti de ei,
       cu totii lucrarea mestesugarilor.
   Se zice despre ei:
       <<Acei oameni care sacrifica,
           saruta idoli in forma de vitel>>.^[b]
   ^3 De aceea vor fi ca ceata de dimineata
       si ca roua care dispare devreme,
   ca pleava suflata de vant in arie
       si ca fumul care iese din horn.

   ^4 Dar Eu sunt Domnul, Dumnezeul tau,
       din tara Egiptului^[c].
   Sa nu recunosti nici un alt Dumnezeu in afara de Mine
       si nici un alt Mantuitor, decat pe Mine.
   ^5 Eu te-am hranit^[d] cand erai in pustie,
       intr-un tinut uscat.
   ^6 Cand au dat insa de pasune, s-au saturat,
       iar dupa ce s-au saturat, s-au mandrit in inima lor
           si astfel M-au uitat.
   ^7 Prin urmare, voi fi pentru ei ca un leu,
       ii voi pandi pe drum ca un leopard.
   ^8 Voi da peste ei ca o ursoaica pradata de puii sai
       si le voi sfasia pieptul.
   Ii voi devora ca un leu,
       iar fiarele campului ii vor sfasia.

   ^9 Esti pierdut, Israele,
       caci ai fost impotriva Mea, impotriva Ajutorului tau.
   ^10 Unde-ti este regele, ca sa te poata izbavi acum?
       Unde sunt judecatorii din toate cetatile tale?
   Unde sunt aceia despre care ziceai:
       <<Da-mi un rege si conducatori!>>?
   ^11 Ti-am dat un rege, in mania Mea,
       si ti l-am luat, in furia Mea!
   ^12 Faradelegea Efraimului este adunata
       si pacatul lui este pastrat.
   ^13 Durerile nasterii au venit la el,
       dar el este inca un copil neintelept,
   caci in momentul zamislirii,
       nu vine la gura pantecelui.

   ^14 Ii voi rascumpara de sub puterea Locuintei Mortilor^[e],
       ii voi rascumpara de la moarte!^[f]
   Moarte, unde-ti sunt molimele?
       Locuinta a Mortilor, unde-ti este distrugerea?

   Cainta va fi ascunsa de privirile Mele,
   ^15     oricat de roditor va fi el printre fratii sai.
   Vantul de rasarit^[g] va veni,
       o suflare a Domnului se va starni din pustie.
   Acesta ii va usca izvorul
       si ii va seca fantana.
   Vistieria ii va fi pradata
       de toate lucrurile pretioase.
   ^16 Samaria isi va purta vina
       pentru ca s-a razvratit impotriva Dumnezeului ei.
   Vor cadea rapusi de sabie;
       copiii lor vor fi macelariti,
           iar femeile lor insarcinate vor fi spintecate."
